In this episode, Sleepy, I try to list everything in the universe before the hour is over. It starts well, with light, the moon, spoons and dust, but then reality becomes rude and starts unfolding in too many directions at once.
There are atoms, hiccups, moss, mirrors, shadows, debt, mushrooms, rust, gravity, sleep, and possibly a doctor pie. There is also the strange fact that most things are emptiness pretending to be solid, and that a shadow is just light being interrupted by you.
A drifting, introspective and imaginative journey to sleep about everything and nothing, with a strange Swedish man in Stockholm doing his best to keep track of existence before existence gets away from him.
It is what it is. What happens, happens. And right now, there’s nothing we can do about it.
Sleep Tight!

[00:00:00] Hi and welcome to Fall asleep with Henrik. I'm Henrik and you're sleepy and it is what it is. What happens, happens and right now there is nothing that we can do about it. So let's go.
[00:00:27] Hi sleepy. Hi and welcome back to my humble abode. I'm Henrik, the weird little Swedish podcast voice that you can do whatever you want with really.
[00:01:02] You can listen to me actively, really try to analyze everything I say. There are layers. Maybe you don't know this, but I work with layers quite a bit. Sometimes I say something that really means something else and sometimes I do the opposite. I just say something that doesn't mean anything at all.
[00:01:28] So you can choose to analyze what I say, look for clues for whatever, or you can just let that go. I would recommend the latter. Just let it go because there's nothing to this really. I'm just going to speak until you fall asleep and that's all there is to it.
[00:01:55] For those of you who don't know me, I'm Henrik. I'm a Swedish actor. I sit in Stockholm right now in my apartment and record these episodes for fun and as a job. And if you want to reach out to me, you can do so. I'm all over social media and there's a website, fallasleepwithhenrik.com, with a way to contact me.
[00:02:22] If you want to reach out and tell me anything, tell me how you use the podcast. Tell me what you like and what you don't like. I'm especially keen on knowing more about you. Who are you? You. Who are the sleepy? I do all sorts of things in these episodes. I talk about this and that.
[00:02:50] Sometimes I just enter into this flow state. I did so last week when I did an episode about Swedish words. And I've gotten a lot of feedback, both good and bad. And it was hard for me to do because I needed to use like two vocabularies simultaneously.
[00:03:18] Okay, so that wasn't the right way to pronounce the word. Simultaneously. Sorry, sleepy. So I was exhausted afterwards. I needed to wait for like weeks and weeks and weeks before I recorded again. So now I'm back at it.
[00:03:40] And I don't know what I'm going to talk about. Maybe I could do another list. I think I made a list maybe a year back. Because I'm very good at lists. I'm good at listing stuff. And I do this in the Swedish version of this podcast quite often.
[00:04:11] I enjoy listing everything there is in the universe. And somehow there's always this thing where I don't have time to count all the things that exist. But that's my aim for every try. So today I'm going to list everything in the whole universe. Everything that exists.
[00:04:41] And I'm going to list them all before the episode is over. And I know that I will make it this time. Because I'm very fast. And I'm very thorough. And I'm also very knowledgeable about what actually exists. I mean, for instance, ask me anything. Ask me right now. Does a blobber exist? And I can tell you right this instant. Yes, of course, it exists.
[00:05:12] I don't know what it is. But at the same moment I said the word. Then it sprung into existence. That's the way reality works. Because I know everything about reality. As you can hear. So, okay. I'm going to start listing stuff now. And you can drift in and out as you please. So, first of all, there's light. We can start with light.
[00:05:41] Because light is like... Yeah. We couldn't start anything at all without light. Light is weird. The strangest thing about light is... Well, I'm... I don't know anything really. But the weird thing to me about light is that... It's the fastest thing there is.
[00:06:09] And still, it has no idea that it's moving. If light had a conscious... If life was conscious... Then it wouldn't know it's moving the fastest in the universe. Because from light's own point of view, no time passes... Between... Leaving... The source... The origin of it... Like...
[00:06:38] A star... And arriving in your eye. So when you look at the sun... Well, you shouldn't look directly at the sun. But when you experience sunlight... And it gets in your eye... So in a sense... That light... Hits you right... In the eye... Thinks... If it had... Thoughts... It would think that it... Just now... Left the sun... Even though it... It's been eight minutes. And the same goes...
[00:07:09] With light that's been traveling for billions of years. Time just... Doesn't move... For light... From light's own perspective. That's weird. Okay, we're already in trouble. Sleepy. Because... If I'm going to do... All of existence... In this list... And the first thing... I mention...
[00:07:38] Just... Breaks my mind... I don't know how we're gonna get through this. Okay, moving on. So... Then there's the moon. And the moon is... This huge... Spherical... Object... Up above us... Being pulled... Toward us... And... Falling... Falling... Falling... Falling past us... Forever...
[00:08:08] Because that's really what an orbit is... You know... It's... Falling and... Keep on missing... Yeah, that's actually what... Earth... I mean... Orbiting Earth... Or any object in space... Really is all about... Falling... But keeping... Keep missing in... Oh God, sorry... I'm tired... Sleepy...
[00:08:37] As you can hear... My... My language is... Dead and gone... Wouldn't it be... Wonderful to have a world... In which I could communicate with you... Without using words... Words that aren't mine... That don't come to me easy... Well, sometimes they come easy... But not always... Wouldn't it be... Wonderful if we could just...
[00:09:07] Tap into one another... Just, you know... Listening to each other's thoughts... Or that could be a nightmare... What do I know? Okay, so then... There's water... And... And there's a spoon... Someone... Somewhere... Was the first person to bend...
[00:09:37] Well... Metal or... Iron... Yeah, that's metal... You idiot... Iron is metal... Bend... Metal... Into the shape... Of... Like a tiny hand... So that we could lift soup... And other liquids... Without burning our fingers... Someone did this...
[00:10:06] Back in the day... Like... In the... 1980s... Someone invented this... And it wasn't... No, I'm kidding... Just so you know... I am... I am kidding... I do this all the time... I... I say the wrong... Time... Time... Time lapses... Okay, I really need to focus now... I have a lot of thoughts going on in my mind...
[00:10:35] At the same time... And they're all in Swedish... And I'm not going to nag... About the language thing... I know I do this quite a lot... And I get a lot of emails from people saying... It's fine... Stop complaining about the language... It's a turn off for us... We hate it when you say... No... No one says they hate it... But... Yeah... My point is... Someone... Somewhere... In the ancient cradle of humanity...
[00:11:04] Invented spoons... And that's cool... That's a cool thing to think about... Because... We never thank them enough, do we? Because we don't know who they were... The person who... Invented the spoon... And there's no one... Improving the spoon... Either... That's just an example of... Great... Inventions...
[00:11:32] Thousands of years maybe... And no need for improvement... That's cool... And I really need to stop using the word cool... It's easy on the mouth to say... Cool... But it's sort of a... Cringy word to say... If my daughter... She's 15... If she were here... She would say... Why do you say cool... Like you're a... Kid in the 80s? Well... I answer her...
[00:12:02] In my imagination right now... That's because I am a kid... From the 80s... I was a kid in the 80s... And we spoke like that... We used the words... Cool... Neon... Fresh... And... Busy... Okay... So then there's... Dust... Most of the dust in your home... Is...
[00:12:32] You... Sleepy... It's... Pieces of you... That you leave behind... And it's mixed with fiber and pollen and... Really... And this is... I don't know if it's true... I read this somewhere... But in all dust... In like ordinary dust... In like ordinary dust... You and... Fiber and pollen and...
[00:13:00] There's this small amount... Of meteorite... Microscopic specks of space... That fall on every roof... On planet earth... So the... The... The dust... Under your bed... Or in your window... Is... Partly... Well...
[00:13:29] Very little partly... But partly... Outer space... And... Partly... Your own body... Settling together in a corner... And when you sweep it up... You... Sort of... Compress... Outer space with yourself... And your own surroundings... The dead... Objects in your... Immediate vicinity... And... You throw it away...
[00:14:01] Because they're... Atoms... The same as you... The same as stars... And also... On the list... There is atoms... Not... Guys named Adam... In plural... Well... There are... There are those as well... But... This is atoms... And... An atom is mostly empty...
[00:14:31] If you think of... The nucleus... Which is like the core... Of an atom... It's... Surrounded by this void... It's almost like a... It's a fly in a cathedral... So... That means... Since you and everything else... Is built out of atoms... Everything is mostly... Empty... If you removed...
[00:15:00] All the emptiness from... Emptiness... Emptinessers... If you removed all the emptiness... From every person alive... Or dead... Or whatever... We would... Like... If we concentrate on just... The human race... Race... If you removed all the emptiness... From every... Every... Human... Then the... Whole human race...
[00:15:29] Would fit inside... Say... A sugar cube... I don't know if this... This is true... This is just a... A hunch... But it's true that we feel so... Solid... And we are in a way... We... We bump into door frames... And... It hurts and...
[00:15:58] But really... We're just basically... Like this... Rumor... Held together by... Electricity... I will never understand this... Maybe it's not possible... Zero... Does also exist... Zero is a thing... That exists by...
[00:16:26] Being the name for nothing... Which is already a paradox... And then there are stones... And I love stones... I return to them again and again... In this podcast... And in... Most of the other stuff that I do... I really would like to be a stone... On a road somewhere... In the middle of the forest...
[00:16:56] Maybe it rains a bit... The stone just lies there... A stone... It doesn't do anything... It doesn't ask for anything... And it will... Live... It will exist... As this stone... Longer than... Every one of us... And every one of our children... And we treat them with... With such undifference...
[00:17:25] We just pick them up... And we throw them... And they are... Almost eternal... So there is also... Small... Individual... Beings... Living... All around us... Bacteria... Archaea... I don't know if you can say that...
[00:17:55] Or... Viruses... If they are to be considered... Creatures... I don't know... But they exist... So they are on the list... And then also... The horizon exists... And hiccups... Nobody fully knows... Why... We hiccup... Sleepy... And that's... Sort of a random thing... Not to know... Don't you think? I mean...
[00:18:24] We know so much... But we don't know... Why we... We hiccup... Isn't that weird... In a way? I mean... We know... Why... Okay... I need to find... Yeah... We know... That... At least from a theoretical... Standpoint... No... But a very practical as well... Light... Doesn't have a sense of time... Or rather... If light had... A mind...
[00:18:54] Then it wouldn't have a sense of time... But from times... From light's perspective... Time doesn't exist... We know this... But we don't know... Why we hiccup... There is one idea that... This is a leftover from... When we were like... Fish... People... Not... Not fish people... But when we had... Gills...
[00:19:23] Like... This is an old reflex... From... Like... A water world... I don't know... It's a tiny... Ghost... Of the ocean... A small spasm of memory... In your chest... From a creature that you used to be...
[00:19:52] I've tried all the tricks in the book... Getting rid of hiccup... I... All... I don't... Very often get hiccups... But when I do... They are severe... So they really hurt... When I have them... And I've tried... All the tricks in the book... To get rid of them... Holding my breath... Drink upside down... Doing some sort of exercise... Screaming... All of the above... And... None of it really works... Well...
[00:20:21] Sometimes they work... But... For some other reason... It's like... Nature is just laughing at me... You used to be a fish... Shut up and hiccup... Like... Time... Is a thing... Is a thing that we can put a lot into... I turned 51... This summer... And...
[00:20:52] Time is this thing... Is this thing that I trust... Very little... Because they... It doesn't feel accurate anymore... And... The more I learn about time... Is... How little we really know... What it even is... Is time for instance... Something that truly exists... Or is it just... Our readers... Our own internal readers...
[00:21:21] That interpret... Entropy this way... And there is... I'm sorry for just... Keeping on... But I need to... To... Fit in all the things... That exist in the universe... Before the end of this episode... Which is... Roughly... 38 minutes from now... So... I really need to... Keep it... Up and running... You know... Otherwise... I will just... As in all my other tries...
[00:21:51] Doing this... I will just end up... Only having... Scratched the surface of what actually... All the things... That actually exist... So there is... Door handles... And honey... And mirrors... And tardigrades... Mirrors are actually...
[00:22:21] Very weird... I've done... A lot of... TV shows... Where I've... Been a puppeteer... That's not my training... But I ended up... In a TV show... Called... Pomo's Piano... Pomo's Piano... The piano of Pomo... Named after the show host... Ronaldo Pomo... And... I... Wrote the script... Together with... This... Woman named... Ylva...
[00:22:51] And... I also... Played a lot of... Puppets... Because there were a lot of puppets... In the show... And when you do this... TV... When you... When you do TV shows... With puppets in them... You watch your own puppet... In a monitor... That is... In front of you... You... You yourself are hidden... Behind an obstacle... Or... Beneath the floor... Or something... And you just stick your hand up... With a puppet on...
[00:23:20] And then you watch yourself in... um A monitor... But the thing is... When... You turn your character... Your puppet... The monitor just... Mirrors everything... So you... You never get the hang of it... It's almost... Inbearable to try and do it... In a conventional... Setup monitor... So you need to mirror the monitor... And that's a whole thing... What actually is... Mirroring anything really...
[00:23:49] It's a weird... Process... That... That it flips you left to right... But that's not... Really the case... Because then... It would look different... The mirror just flips me... Front to back... That's actually what's going on...
[00:24:18] Everyone else sees me the other way around... Except for me... The face that I think is my face... Whenever I look in the mirror... Is reversed... And that's really... A big difference... I guess that's why... Whenever you... You look yourself in the mirror... And you decide to take a picture... Take a photo... Take a picture... You don't say that... You say... Take a photo...
[00:24:46] Take a picture... Why don't you take a photo? So... So I take... I take a photo of myself... Looking exactly the way I looked in the mirror... Then there's this other guy... Staring back at me from the photo... Because that's not mirrored... That's how I look... Next on this is...
[00:25:16] Silence... I really enjoy silence... And sometimes... I can't stand it... Just now... Before I started recording... I had lunch... And since I'm at home... I just... Ate in front of the TV... But I didn't want to watch... Anyone... Just telling me... Explaining how stuff works...
[00:25:45] And stuff... Which is the things that I usually watch... On YouTube... Instead... I just put on... A piece of music... And... I just sat there... And I... Thought to myself... That this is... Almost... Like silence... Because it was a very slow... Repetitive... Intelligent piece of music... That... Just... And I can't remember the composer...
[00:26:14] This was just something random... I stumbled upon... And I... I'm not gonna go out... And look... But it was... Because it's not worth it... But it gave me... The sense of... This could might as well... Have been... Silence... In a good way... I mean... Not as a... As a negative criticism of it... Maybe it's not the best thing to say... To a performer... I loved your... Your concert... It might as well... Have been... Totally silent... And it wouldn't have made any difference...
[00:26:45] No... That's... Not... Really... A good thing... And there's sand... A lot of sand... On earth... And... I mean... On... Any other... Planet... That... Can have... Like... Sand on it... There's sand... And then there's fingernails... That keep growing...
[00:27:16] Sometimes... I think about my fingernails... And I... Say to myself... Isn't that sort of a... Almost like... Being in the water... Like... Water up to your... Shin... And you're just... Fighting to stay above water... That's... The... Your fingernails... Growing... Because they don't stop... They never stop... They just grow... You know... It's like the proof... The ultimate proof...
[00:27:45] That you yourself... Is... This living... Weird... Organism... That just... Keeps producing stuff... And then there is... A single sock... Somewhere in your house... Octopus... And you don't know why... And then there... There are echoes... Octopuses...
[00:28:15] I know you can't say that... What... What is... Octopus in plural? Octopi... The doctor pi... And there are doctor pies... Which is like... Pies made... Especially for doctors... Which contain all the... Nutrient... Nutrients a doctor would need... During... Wartime... And then there are names... Sleepy...
[00:28:44] A name is a sound... That we agree to point... At a person... And say... This person is... And then we use the sound... Isn't that really weird? And it comes in very early... In a person's life as well... It's the first thing... The caretaker's... Name or... Title... Mom, Dad... Uncle... Baby...
[00:29:13] And then... Your name... Your name... And it's just a noise... Klök... That could be your name... Or... Læl, læl... That could be actually your name... And... It's nothing in the universe that says that... That can't be a name... You know... Your name could be... Brømmapumme... And that would also be... Totally fine...
[00:29:43] The universe would have no say in what you call your... Your child... The government would... I guess... On the other way... On the other hand... And then there's rain... And it's been raining on this planet for billions of years... And it's the same water... And it's the same falling... And long before there were... Ears to hear it on roofs...
[00:30:11] There was rain... A raindrop is not... Tear-shaped... Despite... That's how we draw it... You know... In every drawing... All over the world... A raindrop is... Round or flattened... Like this... Tiny hamburger... As it falls...
[00:30:44] And then there's salt... Yeah... Tears... Equal salt... And then there's shadows... And that's... Really not a thing... But still... It exists... A shadow is just... The shape of... Where a thing... Got in the way of light... And you can... Actually...
[00:31:10] I mean quite often you can... Very clearly distinguish... A shadow from its environment... Under the right conditions... You can draw... Like fine lines... Around a shadow... And you wouldn't... Smudge... When you leave a shadow... That's... An absence... Of you...
[00:31:42] Have you seen these... Social media... Viral clips... With babies being scared of their own shadows? I actually think it's... Very funny... Because it's... It's... It points to the fact... That it's true... But we never think about it... How absurd it is... That we are being... Under the right... Light conditions... We are being followed... By this... Pitch dark...
[00:32:12] Copy of ourselves... Impossibly... Flattened out... Over the earth... And when you lift your leg... The shadow does that as well... And I... I don't know... But I think that I can see... In these... Video clips... That the children... Tries to lift their feet... To... Not touch... The shadow... But you can't... Because you... You need to put one foot down...
[00:32:41] And then the shadow is right there... You know... It almost seems... Sinister... In a way... I guess that's why... They... Panic... And it's funny... Because... We should all really... From... Time to time... Look at our shadows... More... And just think... Whatever... What even is this? You know... Why does it follow me around? How come nature... How come light... Made this?
[00:33:18] There's also debt... Like... Owing money... That's a thing... I used to owe... My ex-girlfriend... The one before Nina... My... Real life partner... Um... Since 17 years... Up until now... And... Yeah... We're separated... I was trying to find a... Uh... Uh... Yeah... I don't know why...
[00:33:48] That is important... I... I really don't know... I think that I don't wanna... I think I wanna be... True to... Who I am right now... In all the senses... In all the... Ways that I do stuff... So that's when... When I think about... What I say... And... And I think... Now Sleepy will think that I am... With this... Woman... And I still am...
[00:34:16] And we've been together for 17 years... And then... That would be untrue... And then that would feel dishonest... So... Then I start to... Ramble... Like this... I'm sorry... So... The girl... That I... Was... Seeing... Before Nina... She and I... Well... We had a really... Really turbulent relationship... It wasn't... It wasn't all bad... But... A lot of bad... And...
[00:34:45] We were together for 3 years... And that... By that time... I was... My early... Late 20s... And early 30s... By that time... That was... Ages... You know... 3 years... And I borrowed money from her... And... Then we broke up... And I still owe her money... Ode her money... And that was... Awful... Not only did we connect in this awful... Break up way...
[00:35:16] The end of a relationship is like... The sun just... Evaporating overnight... Regardless if you want the separation or not... It's an awful thing to go through... Turbulent and... So much doubt... And... And... But I still owed her... Quite a lot of money... Eventually I took a bank loan... To just pay her back...
[00:35:46] Because I'd rather be... Owing the bank money... Than this... Woman... And then... I paid it all off... And since then... I've been very careful... With debt... Which we all should be... Really... And we should never borrow money from a friend... Or anyone we really know... If we are... Then... Please make sure that you...
[00:36:15] Pay it back... Like... Instantly... It ruins... I have it in my own family... It ruins everything... It ruins everything... It really does... If someone owes you money... And... It becomes clear that... They won't pay it back... You know... They tricked you... Or... They just... Ignore the fact that they owe you money... Or...
[00:36:44] They could be bad guys... Or just... Very bad with money... Or... Under circumstances... Of some sort... Just let it go... It's not worth it... It's not worth the... Anger and agony... And hate... And pain... Just leave it... You know... And then... There's moss... And I love moss...
[00:37:16] I... Have this fantasy about... One day... Just... Going out into the woods... Laying down on the moss... And just... Stay there... Letting the moss... Cover me... Slowly... Piece by piece... Until I'm just... This pile... This... Lump... Under the moss... I wouldn't be dead or anything...
[00:37:45] I would just be there, you know... Being totally at peace... And then there's the wheel... Somebody invented the wheel... I read somewhere that... Wheel... When we think about the wheel... We think about it in terms of transportation, right? You put it on... Carriage...
[00:38:14] Carriage... A wagon... A bear... Yeah... Something that you transport stuff with... Or people... The first wheel... According to this thing that I've read... And I might be very off here... But it was for making pottery... Like... Spinning clay... And... I think that says something... About...
[00:38:45] Us... The piece of monkey... Human being... Transportation wasn't our... First priority... It was other necessities that we prioritized... Keeping... Grain... In a jar... Or making art maybe... It's only later that someone...
[00:39:12] Came up with the idea to tip it on its side and think... This could actually roll... I mean someone made that conclusion... It actually happened... It wasn't something that just... Slowly faded into... Discovery... Someone... Somewhere... Probably a lot of people... At the same... Different times throughout the world and history... But...
[00:39:42] Someone was the first... Someone... Somewhere... Tilted this wheel... That we're used for... Clay... Pottery making... And then... Just made a discovery that you can actually... Put a... An axle... A rod... And then another wheel... At the opposite side of the rod... And now you can put stuff here... You can...
[00:40:10] Put your granddad there and you can roll him out to sea... And so... There's boredom... And there's glass... And there's... Whale... Song... And keys... And deja vu...
[00:40:41] When I was a kid... I had deja vu... Very often... Often enough... That I still remember it to this day... And... Sometimes I would get scared... Because it was this outer worldly feeling... Almost like a dream... This... Well... I... I'm... I'm not sure about never... But it never happens... To me anymore...
[00:41:09] Is it something that goes away with age? That's a sad thing in that case... Because that means that my brain is... Solid now... I'm fantasizing... I don't know why... Maybe it's because... Other stuff... But it's... It's a sad thing that... My brain... Because in my imagination... Me as a kid... The brain is making all sorts of connections all the time... Firing in all directions...
[00:41:39] And maybe that's why... Deja vu comes... I don't know why we have it... Deja vu... But it's... Tempting to think of it as some... Path of the brain that's... Just not done yet... And now my brain is done... That's boring... I don't want to be done... I don't ever want to be done... And then there's wind... And photographs...
[00:42:09] And mushrooms... Sometimes... I get questioned... Do you do mushrooms before you record Henrik? They say... And I always say... Yes of course... But that's a lie... Because I don't... Imagine if I were... People are talking about psilocybin... Like magic mushrooms... They think that...
[00:42:38] Because I have an imagination that I use... As a tool in my... Professional life... And in my personal life... I must be on some... Substance... And I think that's... A degrading way of looking at imagination... Because we're all... Imaginative creatures... It's just that for some reason... Some of us have been taught to suppress that part of us... Ourselves...
[00:43:09] What child doesn't have imagination? So... It's like... It's like saying... That in order to... Be this slightly... More... Imaginative... You need drugs... You know... And... So... I'm not... Per se... Against...
[00:43:37] I haven't tried them... I don't know anything about them... I've... I have friends that... Told me stuff... About their experiences... And I respect them... And I think... I mean... Yeah... But it's illegal... And I shouldn't... I shouldn't encourage anyone to try them... Because I haven't... Myself... So... But it's... I mean... As far as I've read... You can't just use them every day...
[00:44:07] Because they stop working... So you need... Periods in between... Where you don't... And it's also... You don't get this rush... That you get from other drugs... As far as I've read... So... It's not... You know... Something that you... Can just go long for... Oh I need a beer... You know... That feeling... And... It's... More of an experience... And...
[00:44:37] I record... Like... I do this podcast... This English podcast... Is four episodes a month... And my Swedish version of this podcast... Is ten episodes... A month... With extra episodes... For paying... Premium... Subscribers... That's fourteen episodes... Of this weird concept... Each month... Fourteen hours... Of improvised... Gibberish... And...
[00:45:06] Imagine if I were... To be taking shrooms... Every time... That would be... I mean... Just the logistics of it... Where do I find the quantities of mushroom... That I would need... And I would need more and more... Each time... Because my body would build up... Some sort of resilience... That would be... Hell for me... And also... It's illegal... In Sweden... So I can't just... I wouldn't... I mean...
[00:45:36] It would be a whole side hustle... Just to get... Get the stuff... You can find them... I guess... In nature... But... Again... That's also a logistical thing... I'm gonna go out in the woods now... And I'm gonna stay out for six hours... Until I find... Mushrooms enough... To create today's episode... And then... I need to go back... And I need to... Prepare them... I just... I guess you can't just eat them... And then... Yeah... So no...
[00:46:04] I don't do mushrooms... Before I record... Or after... I don't do mushrooms... Well... Some mushrooms... The edible... The edible... Legal ones... I do... Anyway... There is also... Borders... And... The breath... And... Buttons... And... Fire...
[00:46:36] But is fire really... A thing? A fire is more of an event... Than a thing... Right? A fire is a chemical reaction... Heat and light... Comes out of it... But it's a chemical reaction in its... Or... Origin... And this is why you can't... Hold it... Or keep it... Because it will fade...
[00:47:05] If you remove the chemical reaction... Or change the chemical reaction... It will fade away... Well... Not all things... That I... Recounted here... Is... Objects in a true sense... Like a border for instance... Isn't an object in itself... Neither is loneliness... But it's... Nevertheless on the list... And the color blue... Have you also heard this? I don't know if it's true...
[00:47:35] But... For a long time... In old... Languages and poems... There seems to be no word for blue... The sky... In some... Greek... Old text... Is called bronze... Or... Wine dark... And... That has led to the conclusion... Speculation... What if...
[00:48:05] Blue wasn't a color that you could see? Because blue is rare... In nature... There are... Almost no truly blue animals... Or plants... Most of them... Only look blue... They trick you to look blue... By the way... They bend light... I guess... Well... Every color is really...
[00:48:36] A bending of light... I don't know... I don't know the answer... If you do... Please... Reach out and tell me... I would really love to know... If the ancient Greeks... Couldn't see... The blue sky... And there's also... Ants... And there's also... Clocks... And there's also... Snow...
[00:49:09] There's the vacuum... Of space... And... Regardless of what you feel about that... Sleepy... It's there... And I'm not saying that to... Create a threatening atmosphere... In this sleeping podcast... Many people get... Worried... When I talk about space... And... I guess that's why I keep... Coming back to space... Because... Because I think it's... For me... Anyway... It's a fascinating...
[00:49:38] Topic... But also... I wanna... Deescalate... The triggering... Aspect... Aspect... Of stuff... We really should work harder... Not to get triggered so fast... Because... We get exposed... In... A way that we haven't... Ever been as a species... In our... All of our history... Biological and cultural history...
[00:50:09] The internet and social media... Has just provided us with... This... Downpour of information... And it's filled... Naturally... With triggers... And... So... I... I think... It's nothing wrong with our... I think... Ancient people were also... Easy triggered... I think we're easy triggered... We're... We're a monkey that is easy... We... You can push our buttons... Very easy...
[00:50:39] Our buttons are visible... For all to see... But we really need... It's sort of a responsibility today... Sleepy... Correct me if you think I'm wrong... To keep that in mind... When we move through our digital landscapes... People will... Per definition... Like... Absolutely... Say something... That you don't agree with... Or that you have a painful experience...
[00:51:08] Around... Stuff that you hate... Stuff that you fear... Stuff that you think is unfair... Stuff that you think is wrong... For some reason... And... And stuff that you think is right... And great... And la-di-da... So the responsibility here is to just say... I will keep this... Thing at arm's length... I will engage... When I engage... But I won't be this...
[00:51:40] Pressure sensor... That's just been let loose on the internet... And... Reactive deluxe... Being pushed... In all directions... At the same time... Because we burn out... And we also... In turn... Create a worse experience... For everyone else... Sometimes there is these... Outbursts in... My social media circuits...
[00:52:09] In Sweden overall... And there is someone... In the public... Space that has said something... Or thought something... Or did something... And it's... As long... To me... As long as... As it's... Like someone said something... In an interview... Or something... And then everyone is angry... And everyone does... Their own social media about it... Trash talking that person... And I think... Every time I see... I'm just filled with this tiredness...
[00:52:40] Because... How easy... Is it to just move us... The way they want... People... I mean... People who don't fear... To be the object of anger... They can do anything... They really own you... You know... And there are people... That don't care... If you like them or not... And those people... They can do anything today... They can... They can change the world... They are changing the world...
[00:53:11] Keep it to yourself... Talk to your loved ones... And if you want to engage... Do so... But do it... Wholeheartedly... And do it with a purpose... Not just... Fuzz... You know... And also there's... A candle... In the wind... There is the old song... By... John and Vangelis... If you...
[00:53:41] Recollect them... It's a song that's... Called... Anyone can light a candle... And I got that on an LP... A vinyl... Back in the day... The whole album... I don't remember... What it... What the album was called... And I can't even... I can't find the song... In any streamer... Streaming... Platform either... It's gone...
[00:54:10] And I really loved that... Because it... It spoke to me so much... Because I was like... Seventeen or eighteen... When I got the record... And I... I fantasized about love... Because I've... I've been in love... Like thousands of times... But I've never had a girlfriend... And I... Really fantasized about... What it was... What it was going to be like... If... If ever... You know... Back then I thought... That I... No one can... Really... In their right mind... But really love me...
[00:54:42] That's... That's a shame... And then there's memory... And bread... Those two goes together... Sometimes... Because you can remember bread... But you can't bake a memory... And then there's gravity... And gravity is actually... The weakest of all the forces... It's... I mean... Imagine... You can lift a glass of water... From the table... While the whole of earth...
[00:55:12] Is just... Drawing and... Clinging to the glass... The whole massive earth... And you can still lift that glass... You can still take a step... Even though... This huge chunk of rock... Is just... Clinging to you... You... Wanting you to be one with it... You know... Pressing you against its surface...
[00:55:40] You can get out of bed... When you want... Despite earth... Wanting... Wanting to keep you... For the rest of... Your existence... Pockets... And static... And skin... And... A promise... And... Deep sea... And rust... I love rust... I wish I owned more stuff...
[00:56:10] That were rusty in that... Beautiful way... I don't mean rust... Like in decay... Like something is broken out of rust... I really love stuff... That are covered with rust... One of my favorite buildings... The types of buildings that I love... Is... Surfaces on buildings that have... Intentionally been... Left to rust... It's...
[00:56:39] Part of the plan... When you build it... And then when you... Drag your hand over the surface... It's like this... Rugged... Well... Ancient feeling in a way... Because rust is really... Iron... Slowly returning to the form... That it had before... We... Dug it up... Or shaped it... And it happens when it's exposed to oxygen...
[00:57:08] So it's like a reclaiming thing... And I think that's beautiful... And then there's laughter... Sleepy... And that's... I'm all for... I approve... Of... Laughter... I also approve of patterns... And electricity... Sometimes people say...
[00:57:36] Back then when we invented electricity... That's just not true... It's... We haven't invented electricity... We have learned to use it... That's a difference... Electricity isn't anything artificial... It's us... It's you and me... It's the thing that you're experiencing right now... Partly via the device... That you're listening to my voice through... But also via your ears... And your brain...
[00:58:09] And then there's thirst... And clouds... And spider webs... And... A staircase... To your grandmother's place... And... Infinity... And... Sleep... And that's the strange one... Sleepy... The thing that you're doing... Ordinarily doing right now...
[00:58:38] You're in... You're unconscious... You know... Hallucinating in the dark... And... It's a good thing for us... We need it... You know... And we really... Don't know why... Everything sleeps... The only thing we know about sleep... Is... That without it... We fall apart... Even creatures with almost no brain... Sleep... So...
[00:59:07] Sleep is older and deeper than thought... Itself... And it's a blessing... Don't you think? Because you disappear from yourself... For hours and hours... On a good night... And you return in the morning... Assuming that you're the same person... By the way... But you're changed... And that goes... Even without sleep... Every moment that you're alive... You're a different person...
[00:59:37] Of course... Stuff... Sticks to you... Like... The context of you... Sticks to you throughout... Your life... But that's just thoughts... And make-believe... The reality is that you're new... In every given moment... And then there's... Smells... And frost... And... Clay... And touch...
[01:00:06] And the edge of the universe... And... An old key... To a door that you don't... Know which one... And there's yawning... And the color behind your eyelids... When you close your eyes... And libraries... And roots... And podcasts... To a floor that you're... And I can't get into... To a moment... To a moment... And let's... Send...
